How much product can I buy at one time?

You are permitted to purchase up to 30 grams (about one ounce) of dried recreational cannabis or equivalent at one time for personal use. One gram of dried cannabis is equal (equivalent) to: 5 grams of fresh cannabis. 15 grams of edible product.

How do I know how much cannabis I can consume?

Experts recommend starting with 2.5grams of THC and not exceeding more than 40 grams of THC per day.

Every person’s experience is different. Your tolerance level is based on your unique body and body chemistry, and experience. Whenever trying any cannabis product for the first time, we always recommend you try low and go slow. Allow the product onset effects to happen (less than 1 minute for smoking and 1 hour for edibles), before consuming more.

If you ‘green-out’, anecdotal evidence has expressed that consuming CBD helps counteract the overpowering euphoria effect sometimes felt by consuming too strong of a dosage from a cannabis product. Drink plenty of water and relax, the intense sensation will pass eventually.

How do I know how much cannabis I can I legally posses?

Limits for cannabis possession in public

Under the federal Cannabis Act, adults who are 18 years of age or older can legally possess cannabis within certain limits. It is important to note that although the federal minimum age for possession of cannabis in public is 18, most provinces and territories have raised the minimum age requirement to 19. In Quebec, the age is 21.

Individuals who have attained the legal age of possession in their province can legally possess the following:

  1. Up-to 30 grams of legal cannabis, dried, or the following equivalents:
  • 150 grams of fresh cannabis
  • 450 grams of edible product
  • 2,100 grams of liquid product
  • 5 grams of concentrates (solid or liquid)
  • 30 cannabis plant seeds
  1. Share up-to 30 grams with other adults.
  2. Purchase fresh and dried cannabis, and cannabis oils from authorized provincial or territorial retailers.
  3. Grow for personal use up-to 4 plants per residence (not per person) from licensed seeds or seedlings.
  4. Make cannabis products, such as food and drinks, at home as long as organic solvents are not used to create concentrated products.

Equivalents to dried cannabis

The Federal Government has developed the equivalent amounts for other cannabis products to identify what their possession limit would be.

Under the Act, one (1) gram of dried cannabis is equal to:

  • 5 grams of fresh cannabis
  • 15 grams of edible product
  • 70 grams of liquid product
  • .25 grams of concentrates
  • 1 cannabis plant seed

How do I know what product is best for me?

Cannabis comes in 3 different categories, Sativa, Indica, Hybrid. Each one of these strains will affect your body and mind differently.

There are a few criteria you’ll want to consider when choosing a strain:

  • Flavor and aroma. A strain’s terpene profile can produce subtle or intense flavors and aromas. Depending on your personal preferences, you can choose a strain that provides that flavor and aroma at the intensity that seems appealing to you.
  • Desired effects. Everyone reacts to cannabis differently, and there’s no guarantee that a strain will produce any particular effect. You can, however, try strains with a cannabinoid and terpene profile that are likely to produce your desired effect. For example, if you want to experience intoxicating effects, it would make sense to go with something with a higher THC content. If you were looking for a more relaxing experience, you might try a strain containing linalool, a terpene reported to have stress-relieving properties.
  • Potency. Depending on the concentration of cannabinoids, particularly THC, some strains are more potent than others and the level of potency you’re looking for can help you decide which strains to try. Looking for an intense high? Try something more potent. Looking for a less intense experience? Go with something less potent.
  • Growing method. Some people have a preference for weed that is grown in or outdoors. If you’re one of those people, you’ll obviously want to try strains that align with your personal preference.
  • Budget. There are strains at every price point, from wallet-friendly to high-end. If you have a particular budget in mind, that can definitely play into which cannabis strains you decide to try.
